Video Conference |
The conference originator needs to
establish a bridge or other means to facilitate video inputs. All ends of the conference need access to
a video conference studio, permanent or temporary. Such facilities exist, for example, at
IAEA, NRC, ANL (I am told), colleges and universities (I believe), and
probably many utilities. From IAEA,
dual channel, presenters, audience, and PowerPoint slides can be displayed
simultaneously. Coordination among time zones is
important. OPD should explore purchasing or leasing
the necessary equipment. This could be
done as a division or in conjunction with ANS. While individual hotels may charge
excessively, likely we could establish relationships in conference cities
much more reasonably. NOTE: Line charges between IAEA and
anywhere in the |
Video inputs have been provided in the
past; e.g., for plenary speaker at a recent national ANS meeting. We should set this up as a routine feature
of OPD meetings at national ANS meetings starting in June 2007. We should work to make this capability
available at OPD technical sessions. |
|
Telephone Conference |
The conference originator needs to
establish a bridge or other means to facilitate telephone calls. All ends of the conference need a
telephone; speaker phones are preferable. Coordination among time zones is
important. OPD should explore purchasing or leasing
the necessary equipment. This could be
done as a division or in conjunction with ANS. |

|
Publication
of PowerPoint Slides |
Work through ANS to accomplish this on a routine basis for all national meetings. For
example, get releases from authors, and include an indemnification for
inaccurate statements. In other
words, the content is the responsibility of the author, not the publisher. Alternatively,
work through OPD to publish CDs for OPD technical sessions, as we do with the
UWC. If
necessary, a small contribution can be suggested for those desiring such a
CD. |
OPD
does it now at the UWC. Let’s start
with the June 2007 ANS Annual Meeting. |
